Andrew Jackson's instructions regarding the defense of New Orleans from the impending approach of the British forces of 8000+ were neglected along Bayou Bienvenu. No felled trees blocked this major bayou. British barges were able to penetrate the bayou with some difficulty and camp at the Villere Plantation on 22 Dec 1814.
