Village in Derbyshire, said to be burial place of Little John.

See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_john

Hathersage is believed to be the model for the village of 'Morton' in Charlotte Brontë's novel 'Jane Eyre'. Nearby North Lees hall is believed to be the model for 'Thornfield', Rochester's home. Supporting evidence is given in Brontë's correspondence.

North Lees Hall has been divided into two apartments and can be rented from the Vivat Trust.

In films of this story other Derbyshire locations have been substituted for North Lees Hall/Thornfield, notably Haddon Hall (about 9 miles south of Hathersage) and Wingfield manor (the latter a ruin in the care of English Heritage).
