This is the former mail and parcel hub of 'Deutsche Post'. Built around 1956 to 1960. It served as main hub for parcel and mail services for braunschweig area and former german democratic republic. It formerly had a customs office, a railroad car maintenance shop and an automobile maintenance shop.
Today its partial used as a sub-hub for the Braunschweig and Salzgitter area.
The front-facing office- and high-rise- buildings have been added in the years 1986-1988. A post-office can be found here.
