The Naval Arsenal (MArs) is a department of the armament sector of the Armed Forces , which the Federal Office equipment, information technology and use of the Bundeswehr is assumed (BAAINBw). Its role is mainly the material conservation of marine vessels and land installations of German Navy ships and boats and the army in general.

The naval arsenal has the following functions:
- Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance material of ships and boats of the Navy
- Immediate repair of ships and boats of the Navy
- Changes to maritime related material
- Commissioning and management of industrial services for the Navy
- Technical groundwork for material, maintenance and renovation plans
- Measures of technical and logistical support

As a service of the military administration, the naval arsenal employed exclusively civilian personnel. The current staff strength of 1,745 employees, each year there are about 100 training courses in technical occupations Industrial Mechanic / f , mechatronics / f , IT-Systemelektroniker/-in , electronics engineer / technician for devices and systems , computer system / f offered.
