Late eighteenth-century manor, now in ruins. Originally, it belonged to Chaplins family and later passed to Apraksins. The present complex stems from the time of S.F. Apraksin who was the Field Marshal and the President of the Military Collegium. The construction of the manor house is ascribed to the architect Francesco Kamporezi. The manor house and its two wings form a square with two rounded corners and the yard in the middle. The central part of the building accommodated a huge hall with columns, while one of the wings housed a theater. The mansion also has a large complex of service buildings: stables, animal farm, arena, sauna, and a warehouse. Entrances are decorated with towers and monuments. The huge park with ponds spreads for 46 hectares. Presently, only one wing is inhabited, while the rest of the building is nearly ruined. The former owners of the mansion were recognized for their hospitality. They hosted balls drawing lots of visitors. For example, the princess N.P. Golitsyna stayed here. The estate flourished in the time of S.S. Apraksin who was a cheerful and charming person and readily spent money for luxury. The estate had its own theater, orchestra, and choir. Regular festivals, carnivals, and huntings were organized. The mansion belonged to Apraksins till 1917. Later it housed a museum, but now this masterpiece of Russian mansion architecture is ruined and nearly lost.
