This is the only store anywhere around. It bears the name of a ledgendary pioneer rancher who moved here in the 1930's, decades before there were any decent roads. He opened this "trading post" in the 1960's when NM Hwy 15 was built to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument nearby, and his descendants still operate it.
