Caistor is a Georgian town situated in Lincolnshire, England and was, as its name implies, originally a Roman fortress. It lies on the North Western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) on the Viking Way long-distance footpath just off the A46 between Lincoln and Grimsby at the A46 / A1084 / A1173 / B1225 Junction. It has a population of around 2,600 people. Its name comes from Anglo-Saxon ceaster = "Roman camp" or "town", and was given in Domesday as Castre.
