Established in 1879, the Union Club of British Columbia has continued as one of the oldest and most exclusive private clubs in western Canada. With many of Victoria's most prominent and influential citizens as club members, it still has a notable association with political, economic, and social power throughout the province.

The club's landmark building was completed in 1912 and is located at the corner of Gordon & Humboldt Streets across from The Empress Hotel.
