In 1951 film star Doris Day and her husband Terry Melcher purchased this house from Martha Raye for $42,000 (furnished!). This is Doris' 2nd home in Toluca Lake; the one she lived in with Marty after they married. Her first home in TL was razed to make way for the Ventura Freeway. She stayed here until she moved to her Beverly Hills home (also on this site) in 1955.
