church, auditorium
It was called Cannon Cathedral, too.
It was built from parts salvaged from the Charlotte Auditorium (really) during the Great Depression and stood until 2010, though it was unused from 1989 when Hurricane Hugo wrecked the roof and the ensuing water damage did a number on the place. As a result of the neglect it began to fall apart and was torn down to prevent it from becoming a death trap having been declared not salvagable.
Garr was famous for it's giant JESUS SAVES sign which was taken from the top of the building before it was torn down, the sign belongs to the relocated Garr Church now. Garr was so massive that the sign and structure were clearly visible from Interstate 77.
