The Kalibo Airport Control Tower is located in the south eastern side of the runway at sitio Nalook (Kalibo). It was constructed by Sumitomo-Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd in Oct 2001 and was completed on December 2003. The facility is equipped with high technology air navigation equipment to meet the requirements of international navigation standards (ICAO). Aside from these the airport facility have also a VOR/DME facility located about 300 meters from the control tower just opposite the terminal building. During the early construction stages, massive earthfill was placed at site as it is located in an irrigated rice field. Foundation of structure was supported by concrete piles ranging from 24 to 30 meters long. Thanks to the hard working efforts of contractor lead by then site chief engineer, Eng. Rodel Hate. Kalibo airport is now one of the modern domestic airports in Visayan Region. - ATO ------- added at jan 2008 seems now internatioal airport w flights to China and Korea
