--- Barsento is a place included in the towns of Alberobello, Alberobello, Castellana Grotte and Putignano. The site Barsento, (whose name means who is tall, strong) has origins in the Hellenistic period. The Church of Santa Maria di Barsento, with the adjacent farm Mountains (once a monastery), according to some researchers, dates back to periods before the Middle Ages. The site, which stretches over 1100 hectares, has cultural values​​, architectural, historical, archaeological, environmental, landscape and even caving to the presence of some caves. Since 1986 he has Barsento Protection Zone Oasis. The complex Barsento is restricted pursuant to Legislative Decree 99/490. Since 1997, Region Puglia (Regional Law 19/97 - u Directive 92/43) has made ​​this area part of the Regional Natural Reserve, in the Barsento identifying the site of a future Regional Parks.
