Skipton, North Yorkshire, England, UK. Also known as the "Gateway to the Dales", it is a good base from which to explore the southern Yorkshire Dales.

Skipton itself has the famous castle and there is a very popular market on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Both the castle and the market are popular coach trip destinations. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal also passes through Skipton and day boat hire ,and longer, is available in the town.
