Jefferson's Monticello meets the Caribbean. The house overlooks a green valley once planted with sugar cane as far as the eye could see. Hence the name Cane Garden. Built in 1784 with the classical additions added in 1820. Owned by McEvoy family of Scotch-Irish ancestry. Converted to Danish citizenship and became successful planters. Empty burnt-out ruin for fifty years before Richard Jenrette restored and ultimately put house in a trust.
