mansion / manor house / villa, Grade I Listed (UK), 17th century construction
George the third purchased this property 1792 for his wife and the small 17th century house was transformed by Wyatt into a large neo-classical garden pavilion. The notable flower painter Mary Moser created a splendid room which is still extant. Being so close to Windsor Castle this building was usually used as a day retreat or a venue for parties rather than actual accomodation.
During the 19th century the house was altered to provide for permanent residency but the house now serves largely as a private museum for the Royal Family echoing the way the gardens now serve as a memorial park.
