The Ellenabb Fort guards the main entrance to Karlskrona harbour and naval base. Construction began in 1900 and was completed in 1904. It was blasted out of the bedrock, where a building of stone and concrete was erected with a storm-proof ditch around the outside. The ditch south of the fort was filled in during the 1950's.

The fort's main armament consisted of three 25-cm guns, former ships cannon, with a range of 15 km.

The Ellenabb Fort was declared a national heritage building in Sep 2003.
