Ed and Vern's Rock Store, since 1961.
Mr. and Mrs. Savko don't sell rocks here. Their little general store is made out of rocks. Before the Savko's bought the place it was known as Majonnier's General Store and Gas Station. Majonnier's was in the middle of a rural hamlet (with an RFD post office) called Cornell. Directly across the road was the famous Seminole Hot Springs (now a trailer park.)
On a warm weekend you can still find two hundred or more motorcycles lining both sides of Mulholland Highway at this place. Not much street racing is done on these twisty roads compared to 20 years ago because the area has gotten so built up with housing subdivisions that, for most bikers, racing has gotten just too dangerous. It remains the number one destination for Sunday riders in L.A. County. Lots of exotic machinery is usually to be seen. On a recent Sunday there were five Vincent Black Shadows lined up in a row next to a Ducati 999R.
