Bridge over DTP drain was called Nalia Pool. This was a natural drain from Maijan village, which carried the rain water from this vast area. This road or area was not so important during pre- British period. But due to devastated erosion of Brahmaputra during great earth quake of 1900, the old town was destroyed and capture by mighty Brahmaputra. The town was bound to shift in the adjacent area. Even during British period this area was under developed. Bihari people of lower income group started to settle on both the sides of the Natural drain. For them, this was a "Naali" (drain). When a "Pool" (bridge) was constructed on the drain, the basti area came to known as "Naalia Pool" (bridge over drain). Later on, after the second great earth quake of 1950, the road towards Tinsukia, Makum, Digboi, and Naharkatia has to be shifted and made through this road by widening and developing. From that period the area started to develop as an important place for residence and business as well. Here was the old Nalia Pool, which has now been developed as a RCC culvert on National Highway 37.
