A old mining villege. Back in the 20th centry Talywain was used by miners from the coal and iron mines around the area. It youst to have 15 bubs all used by the miners the villege was like a small town but now the mines are gone so did the bubs, only two remaine, and the villege is more like a villege and also it's left with a scar. The landscap around the villege is noting but old remaines of the mines eg coal tips and old dangerus mine shafts but Torfaen Borough Council is planing for an opancast to get rid of the dangerus shafts and coal tips, and after the opancast the council is planing to build a lake, more homes, shops and a possibility to build a museum but at the moment all this is on hold. Apart from this the villege has a great cycling route to Blaneavon and Big Pit mine.
