 radio station, interesting place

RCN Konstantynow was the central high power broadcasting facility, which worked on 227 kHz (after 1988) 225 kHz with a transmission power of 2000 kW. It used as antenna a 646-metre tall guyed mast radiator, which was the tallest structure on earth. The mast was insulated for 100 kV against ground.
Close to the transmitter building, there was a 76-metre tall directional radio tower.
RCN Konstantynow went in service on July 18th, 1974. On August 8th, 1991 the mast of RCN Konstantynow collapsed at exchange of guys of upper guy level.
It was planned to rebuild the mast, but its planned rebuilt was cancelled after protests of local population fearing electrosmog.
It was replaced by Solec Kujawski longwave transmitter.
Transmitter building and 76-metre tall directional radio tower are still there, but unused. Basements of former mast still exist.
