  • Eureka High School is situated on several pieces of property owned by the Morales Family. The present school is the product of a vision of Dr. Silvestre Ranga Morales who wanted to build a Christian school in Batac. Under the auspieces of the missionaries of the Disciples of Christ, he and others conceived of Eureka College. Initially it was an offshot of the Vigan bible Institute. Hence Eureka started as a Bible Institute, growing to become Eureka College. One of its most prominent alumni is Dr. Joven Cuanang, neurosurgeon renowned in the Philippines. After the demise of Dr. Morales and the growth of Northern Christian College, the Board of Trustees subsequently reduced it to Eureka High School. The present home of Silvestre Morales and his family continues to remain on campus, occupied by his grandchild Noel Emmanuel Morales Guirao. His granddaughter, Ethel Nona Morales Guirao Tolentino lives in Bakersfield California. His daughter Edith is deceased and buried next to her parents Silvestre and Epifania in Batac. His son Royal Frank is buried in the Inglewood Cemetery in Los Angeles. Roy's wife Annabelle Icamen Morales and their children Faith, Victoria and Kathy live in the US. Eureka is proud to be a part of the rich heritage of Batac, Ilocos Norte. Miss Filipinas Abellon was its best principal, known for her disciplining students and ensuring attendance as key to successful education. The Filipinas Abellon building named after her sits on the lot of the late Estefania Morales who sold part of the lot and donated her home eventually to the school.
