Westerford High School opened on 21 January 1953. There are approximately 900 pupils at the School with equal numbers of boys and girls. The school has a fine reputation throughout the country for high levels of achievement in many spheres, perhaps most notably in the academic sphere. Westerford celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2003. In October, 2009 Westerford was named the top government high school in South Africa.
