Minas de Ahouli

Used to be one of the biggest state run mineral mines of Morocco; now it is abandoned but still many people try to find minerals in the old mines to make their living. All of the former infrastructur for processing the minerals and housing the personnel is out of use and begins to fall apart.. The mines are quite dangerous as normal safety standards are not met.
The area can be visited and is worth it because of the canyon, the mines, the gost town infrastructure and - you may support the locals who are happy to sell some of their minerals to you - a fair price is garanteed, if you can bargain a little bit. But not too much - the people are really poor here.
