CCTV Headquarters is a new 234-metre, 51-story skyscraper in the Beijing CBD. It was constructed from 2005-2009. This building is not a traditional tower, but a continuous loop of five horizontal and vertical sections covering 550,000 square metres of floorspace, creating an irregular grid on the building's facade with an open centre. The construction of this building is considered to be a structural callenge, especially because it is in a seismic zone. The building was constructed in two sections that were ultimately be joined to complete the loop. The building will be the new headquarters of China Central Television. The building is designed by Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren.
