Little Chebeague Island is now a park accessible by private boat. It is heavily overgrown now, but there are some trails, and an abandoned colony of Summer houses on its southwestern end.

Comments

  • Oriental Bittersweet, an invasive vine, has covered much of the island. Be sure to stick to the trails, as this island has a great number of ticks, mosquitoes, and biting ants. Be especially wary when observing the summer houses in the northeastern woods. Keep an eye out for signs of deer on this 3/4 mile beauty of an island.
  • The Maine Island Trail Assc. has done a great job of cleaning up the island and is also working on the historical preservation along with a few other organizations. The trails are wider and better and there is a good privy. Great island to visit.
