Peel Island

Since the mid-19th century, Peel Island has served a number of functions. Initially a quarantine station for shipping and new immigrants, it then became an asylum for vagrants, a sisal farm, a leper colony, and since 2007, the Teerk Roo Ra National Park and Conservation Park.
