During the period Flint Kaserne was under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army it served, at various times, as the Headquarters for General George Patton's 3d. Army, the 1st. Infantry Division, the 10th. Special Forces Group, and the 7th. Army NCO Academy, and other units.

Now it serves as a civil quarter with authorities, shops etc.

  • Prior to the arrival of the American Army in May 1945 the Kasserne had been known as the Junker Schule. It was in a phrase the Waffen SS officers Candidate Academy.
  • Flint Kaserne was one of the most highly regarded duty assignments in the entire Army. It was a beautiful post in a the beautiful foothills of the Alps, and our relationship with the locals was second to none. I was lucky to have served there in the early 80's.
