gate, fortification
This gate of the fortification walls was named Gate of Jesus, due to a church located nearby which was dedicated to Jesus.
This was the last of the Venetian gates to be built so the locals called it the New Gate. There is a plaque in the middle with the date of construction (1587) and the governor's name, Zuanne Mocenigo.
