Barcelona Zoo is one of the favorite barcelona tourist attractions for children. Besides a huge variety of animals, there's also a train for children, a restaurant and a shop to buy souvenirs after the visit.

The zoo is located in the Parc de la Ciutadella.
Barcelona Zoo is known for its big star, Snowflake (Copito de Nieve in Spanish), an albino gorilla who unfortunately died in 2003.

His memory lives on in Barcelona, and especially in the zoo in the form of Snowflake's Grant. The goal for this grant is to aid research on primates in memory and tribute to the famous gorilla.

This zoo contains a collection of animals of over 400 different species from around the world. The zoo also participates in various international and European breeding programs and maintenance of endangered species. This zoo also has dolphin shows which is not the norm, they run 4 times a day. It will take you about 2 hours to do a tour of the zoo.
