In February of 1959 nine back country skiers have died here under mysterious circumstances. They were traveling from Vizhai to Otorten and were supposed to arrive there no later than February 12, 1959. A rescue group was sent out on February 20th. Half naked bodies of skiers were found on February 26 some 1.5 km from their last camp on the slopes of the Mt. Holat-Syahl (translated as "Mountain of the Dead")
