The Haikou Century Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge located in Haikou City, Hainan Province, People's Republic of China. The bridge was built to link the main part of Haikou City to Haidan Island, a district separated from Hainan Island by the Handu River. It crosses at the mouth of the river at Xingiang Port. Construction of the Haikou Century Bridge started in 1998 and it was opened to traffic on August 1, 2003. The bridge spans 2,683 m (8,802 ft) in length and 29.8 m (98 ft) in width. It carries six lanes of automotive traffic. Its main span is 395 m (1,296 ft). The construction cost was 600,000,000 Remminbi (US$80,000,000). It was built by the China Wanbao Engineering Corporation.
