  Harriet Hollister is the mecca for crosscountry skiers for the Rochester NY area. Having an altitude of 2200 ft along with (probably) a mini-lake effect snow from Honeoye Lake, this small area gets a tremendous amount of snow (some say top 10 in the east). It is common to have no snow at all and when driving, getting 4 or 5 miles away to start see snow appearing and continue to get deeper and deeper until you arrive at the park where there is 1-2 feet. The Rochester Cross Country Ski Foundation ( www.xcrochester.com ) now provides grooming and trail conditions throughout the winter. Trails range from easy, intermediate, to expert. gr
