museum, interesting place
Sweden’s first hydroelectric power station was built here between 1910-1915. The station was a gigantic enterprise for that time. Porjus Expo is an exhibit about the lives and work of people in Porjus. The old power station is no longer used for hydroelectric power production, but now houses Lina’s Café and an exciting hydroelectric power museum 50 meters underground. In the "Kraftbyggarland" Park the idea is to describe in a pedagogical way the development of hydroelectric power which has meant so much for this country. For the children there is a miniature hydroelectric power plant –Rallardalen—with a dam and waterways where in an entertaining way they get a feeling for how water power becomes electricity.
