Porjus power station is one of the oldest power plants in Sweden, situated near Porjus. It was built from 1910-1915 and has a power of 440 MW. It generated originally also single phase AC for railway purposes, but this was cancelled and it produces today only three phase AC of 50 Hertz. The old machines for single phase AC are still there and kept as technical monument.
