New Theed is located about 20km from Srinagar city center. It is a well-known tourist attraction within the city. The gateway to the Dachigam National Park. The base point for undertaking trekking to the adjacent Mahadev Mountain peak. The land's topography is mountainous and is enclosed by Dachigam National Park on the east side. From the south side, there is the famous Harwan Garden below the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, which is also the entry point to the village.

  • "Sir Fayaz"(Ahmad Enterprises New Theed)9469031112 :comments New Theed as the cream of the city.Well educated,good mannered,intelligent,dedicated,active,civilized,....people,living in the high rank pleasant atmosphere and in the lap of natures beautiful hills bestowed to us.Our village is known as central Theed.it is located at a distance of 20km from srinagar just touching the boundry rope of world famous Dachigam National Park.In the Revenu records we can trace it as Haripora Harwan after the name of Maharaja Harisingh the Dogra ruler.we were originaly and actually the residents of once famous town of "Theed"mentioned as the place of "Hot Springs"and "Milk."This town was comprised of many large sized Mohallas such as Gupkar,Zethyar,Hasthel,Darbagh,Central Theed,Nowpora,cheshmashahi.etc.During 1940 and 1944 we were forcibly and mercilessly dislocated by autocratic govt:of late Maharaja Harisingh and were alloted barren Karewa wasteland and now made by our ancestors a beautiful model town with the modern pace of revolution of time.
  • New Theed as described above by "Sir Fayaz"(Ahmad Enterprises) New Theed.After the forcible and merciless action of Maharaja Hari Singh almost 70 yrs ago in the 5th decade of 20th century(1940-45) our simple and clean hearted helpless ancestors migrated from Old Theed cheshmashahi(Royal springs).international Golf course land and they begain to live a very hard and miserable life.As here were no roads,no electricity,no transport facility,no proper arrangement of drinking water.As they(our forefathers) were alloted barren Karewa wasteland at existing New Theed above present Harwan Garden and adjoing the Dachigam National Park.Majority of households of old theed town after suffering forcible dislocation settled on the barren wasteland of New Theed,while some others settled at Zithyar Nishat,Brane,Guptaganga,Khunmoh etc.and very few households at Pampore saffron town.Since 1940-45 by the very hard struggle and hardwork and the fast pace of progress of time our grands brought this locality into a shape of grown township.Our grands had arranged this existing New Theed in proper collonies,lanes and bi-lanes.It is we people who r living in the lap of beautiful hills having a vast orchard lands and agricultural lands of rice and mustard and fresh vegetable lands adjoined by 141sq.km world famous Dachigam National Park famous for kashmiri"Hangul"the Stag.We have relevant atmosphere and pollution free environment with cold and fresh morning and evening breeze.Really nature has bestowed us the nice and lovely peace of locality!So many thanks to Almighty God...
  • Sir Fayaz Ahmad (Ahmad Enterprises New Theed).I Genraly suggest here and divert the attention of the people in general towards the fact that here in the entire existing New Theed the educated youth is totally suffering by many hardships because they on either side are intelligent,dedicated,intellectual and high qualified,also they perform high in merits,(As toppers)but they become victims by and under the catagory reservation criteria circular(RBA,ST,OR Other as well).Keeping in view the fact that both Dara and Existing New Theed have the same social and economical status of backwardness but this benifit has only given to Dara and New Theed has been ousted in and by this deserving reservation.It should have done in 1984 but perhaps deliberately kept pending. Hon'ble chief Minister should positively take immediate action in this pending case and activate it and direct the High court to issue an order in this regard so that the young educated youth may be saved to have them a good future and fruitful tommorrow.

Dachigam National Park:-The name of the park literally stands for "ten villages"which could be in memory of 10 villages that were relocated for its formation.These ten villages were living in this region before the world war first i.e 1914 the begining of the early 20th century.Dachigam national park is the region just 21km from j&k's summer capital srinagar the main gate enterance just very close to the Harwan main bus stop on the either side of (DARUL ALOOM KOUSARIA).it covers an area of 141sq.km.Dachigam national park consists of some of the most scenic natural beauty present on the earth.The variation in altitude is vast ranging from 5500ft to 14000ft.above the mean sea level.Due to this vast variation,the park is very clearly demarcated into an upper and lower region.The best times to explore these two areas(UPPER AND LOWER) are summer and winter respectively.Due to the upper region's extremely harsh winter,the best months for visiting here is between the months of may and august.For the lower region,the ideal time is between september and december but is also equally regarding in the summer months.Dachigam national park has been a protected area since 1910,first under the care and watchful eye of Maharaja of J&K and later under the observation of the concerned government authorities.it was finally upgraded and declared a national park in the year 1981.Although it is the last proper home of the "HANGUL" OR KASHMIRI STAG and harbours many rare species in its borders.Dachigam was intially created to ensure clean drinking water supply for the srinagar city.Dachigam national park is one sanctuary that can't be seen in all it's glory with just one visit.This is due to the fact that the park changes it's entire appearance with the onset of each season every one of which is beautiful as the one before or the next to arrive.A major portion of the park is under constant stress from overgrazing and encroachment by neighbouring "MULNAR GUJJAR"community.Although the problem is still very much prevalent,it has been controlled to a large extent by the park authorities.However it is mentioned here that this park is really a precious treasure bestowed to us by nature.It is our first and foremost duty to conserve and upkeep it.
