  It's really called Monahan's Dock. Narragansett Pier is not an actual pier at all, just a term to describe the oldest, central area of town near the water. There was, however, a long pier extending from the center of what is now Narragansett Town Beach that steamers docked at in the 1890's, which was probably the origin of the term.
