Pohoiki Bay Harbor is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii about 30 miles from Hilo and its one-lane boat ramp serves the district of Puna. The Federal project was authorized under Section 107 of the River and Harbor Act of 1960. It was completed in April 1979 at a cost of $432,523 (Federal). The Federal project consists of a 90-foot-long breakwater. The local sponsor is the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources.
