Munali Boys Secondary School (Lusaka)

Zambia / Lusaka / Lusaka

Day and boarding secondary school for boys. I did my Grade 8 here. I did not like it much. Regular staff absences, shortages of desks and chairs and occasional strikes by the boarders made it hard to concentrate or stay motivated. I 'dodged' the entire last term of my time here, knowing that the following year I would be going to a different school.

Munali Secondary School is located along the Great East Road near Cresta Golf View and Handsworth Super Market if you coming in the direction for the University of Zambia and near Chainama and Mumana Pleasure resort if you coming from the Airport. This is a day School and is now a high school, for grades10 - 12 only. It remains one of the schools with the most notorious pupils, some even able to cause riots if administration refuses their requests and yet at the same time produce Zambia's most brilliant people. Like they say, the mind of a genius is chaos.

Hey I was a student there too - in the 80s. Wonderful days! Mr Jere, Mr Aspinwall, Mr Mario and Mr Shumba. Some of those guys beat like hell but I think they were inspirational too. At least I got into university and made something out of myself because of them. I cherish their memory. Thanks a lot to them...

I was at Munali when it was mostly a boarding school with No girls at all. I remember Mr Aspinwall, Mr Khathuria, Mr Abrahams and a lot of great minds like Prof Kasonde Bowa, Danny Lemba, Mkuzo Kuwani, Patrick Chona, Chula Mukubwe etc who impacted my life. The school produced the first African President Kenneth Kaunda and most politicians who have run Zambia since independence! Munali was a dream boarding school those days!

The Wikipedia page on Munali Secondary School needs some more quality information, particularly on it colonial origin and its post-independence development.
  • Bernard chilz (guest)
Bernard Chilz The school has become a lot worse it needs a new administration ''we don't need all those toilets that they're building'' we just need more classes and better labs i'v never enjoyed my education at munali.
