Hibbing is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, USA. The population was 16,214 at the 2020 census. The town was platted and the post office began in 1893, shortly after Iron deposits were found in the area by Frank Hibbing, and the city named after him developed as a major mining and railroad town on the Mesabi iron range. Near here is one of the rare triple divide points where waters drain into three major hydro-geographic basins, the Arctic Ocean via Hudson's Bay, The Atlantic via the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi River
