Rural locality (a settlement) and the administrative center of Lev-Tolstovsky District of Lipetsk Oblast, Russia. Population: 8,875 (2021 Census).
The settlement was founded in 1890 as Astapovo railway station on the intersection of the Kozlov–Volovo and Moscow–Yelets routes. Leo Tolstoy, the famous Russian novelist, fell ill at Astapovo station and died here in 1910. In 1918 (1920 according to other sources) the station was renamed Lev Tolstoy.
