Old railroad overpass. Multiple signs warning trucks not to take this route but they keep coming through and peeling off their tops.

My father used to live in one of the houses overlooking this. Before all the signs, trucks would hit it all the time, sometimes twice in one day.

The Liverpool Fire Department gets dispatched at least once a month due to trucks hitting this bridge. They're generally all out-of-state drivers that hit it. Raising the bridge is not feasible due to the prohibitive cost involved. To make the turn immediately after the bridge, part of the lakeshore would need to be extended.

I don't know why the state doesn't install a swinging steel sign before the bridge that trucks to tall to fit under bridge will hit before they get to the bridge. You can see these clearance signs all over the place at tunnels and drive thru restaurants.

In the time that the description was written, a Megabus bus got lost and ended up hitting the bridge, killing four people and lopping off the top of the double-decker bus.

As for the bridge, why not just reduce the road to two lanes while the road is dug out underneath, then switch to the other two lanes?
