Site of the first white settlement in present day Louisiana erected by Bienville in 1699. At the time this spot was on the East bank of the Mississippi river but the river has since changed course leaving the site about a mile from the river. By 1707 Native Americans forced the evacuation of the site. There is an historic marker at this site.
