Almannaskarð is a high mountain pass in the south-east of Iceland. Before the bridge over Skeiðará going over it was the only way from Höfn and the are around it. After the bridge was made it was still the main way to the east from Höfn. It was considered the most dangerous part on the national route 1 (the ring road around Iceland). Recently, a tunnel was made under the mountain, so now it's not necessary to drive through the pass.
