The shop that once was Yeates & Son is mentioned in the Lestrygonians episode of James Joyce's novel, "Ulysses". The character Leopold Bloom crossed Nassau Street and stood before the window of Yeates & Son, inspecting the field glasses. However, when he saw how much they cost he decided to try to get a pair at the railway lost property office. The premises was recently occupied by a mortgage shop.
