Merchants' Arch, a covered alley running from Temple Bar to the quays, was designed as the Merchant’s Hall by Frederick Darley in 1821. In 1873 the hall became the Tailors' Endowed School. In the 'Wandering Rocks' episode of Ulysses Bloom purchases a pornographic novel from a vendor in Merchants' Arch.
