Hasanuddin University (Indonesian: Universitas Hasanuddin) is a public university in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is established on June 11, 1956. It is named after Sultan Hasanuddin, a Kingdom of Gowa.
Before the official launching by the first vice President of Indonesia, Dr. Mohammad Hatta, there had been in Makassar a faculty of economy of Indonesia University,centered in Jakarta. This faculty is later known as the seed of Hasanuddin University. Its current rector is Idrus Paturusi.
