Joint Stock Company «Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant» (JSC «OEMK») is situated in the area of a unique iron ore deposit – Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. Today, within the Steel division of Holding Company METALLOINVEST, OEMK is the first and so far the only Russian enterprise that has implemented, on an industrial scale, the technological principles of Direct reduction metallurgy. It is this new technology based upon MIDREX direct iron reduction process and electric arc smelting that helped the Europe-biggest production complex of such type to reach an entirely new level of metal’s quality, almost completely free of detrimental impurities and residual elements.
