The very first pharmacy in Raahe was founded by apothecary Jean Gallenius in 1793. The pharmacy was located on Kirkkokatu opposite to the church.
In 1921 the pharmacy moved to its present location on Kauppakatu. This house was turned into a museum in 1999. Its so-called Old Pharmacy Collection is one of the most valuable in its own field in Finland.
In the collection there are hundreds of apothecary jars, the oldest ones dating back to the 18th century, also many kinds of equipment needed in preparation of medicines as well as old pharmacy wrappings and packages. The elegant furniture from the 1890’s originates from the pharmacy´s first premises on Kirkkokatu.
