bar, pub / public house
The Victory was originally named The Bedford Hotel. It has a strong connection with Leicester Tigers, for before the building of the clubhouse, the team used to change here. In the 1970s the pub was renamed in honour of Nelson's flagship and as such carried a sign featuring HMS Victory. In the early 1990s the sign was changed to depict a member of the Tigers scoring a try. However, in September 2000, the sign was changed to one featuring a sporting trophy in acknowledgement of Leicester City's two League Cup wins (1996/1997 and 1999/2000) and the Tigers being league champions in the consecutive seasons 1998/1999 and 1999/2000.
