Dinosaur Footprints Reservation Route 5, Holyoke, MA (Holyoke, Massachusetts)

USA / Massachusetts / Holyoke / Holyoke, Massachusetts

The Reservation is currently being managed with the assistance from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management. The fossil and plant resources on the adjacent Holyoke Gas and Electric riverfront property are being managed cooperatively among The Trustees, Mass DEM, and HG&E. DEM's River Ranger position is funded by HG&E. Please respect the ancient and fragile footprints and fossils so future generations may enjoy seeing them.

Dinosaur footprints, fossilized plants, and delicate ripple marks of a prehistoric pool are preserved in stone at this reservation near the west bank of the Connecticut River. Since at least 1860, ichnologists (those who study fossil tracks) have acclaimed the Connecticut River Valley for its abundance of paleontological specimens, especially dinosaur tracks.
